Cathcart recently dropped from 170 to 155 and the former Welterweight top contender didn't disappoint as he took out the very tough Melvin Guilard in a close to 20 minute fight of the night performance. We caught up with him to find out about weight cut and the reasons behind it. He replied

"The weight cut was a piece of cake, It allows me to use speed to my advantage and the fact that I was a big welterweight means I can still hit hard. The reason for me dropping to 155 is that my fellow camp member Glen Holt caught me in a submission and retained his belt and from that point on that left me with no where to go so I decided to drop down so that I could challenge for a belt that none of my camp members were holding

Cathcart had an impressive resume in the welterweight division holding 3 wins over Lucky Luciano and all of his 4 fights being FOTN performances but he feels Glen Holt is the main attraction in the welterweight division and he wants to see his training partner do his thing.
