am I the only person getting sick of the UFC promising someone a title shot and then taking it away? Last night before the fights DW said that "If Rampage wins, Rashad will not be fighting for the title eliminator against Davis."
Now, he's giving the winner of the Marquardt v. Johnson (which by the way is FREE -.-) the green light, and stripping the winner of Condit v. Hyun Kim (which is on a PPV -.-) of their proposed title eliminator bout.
I think it's bullshit. Not to mention Rampage does not belong in the title picture at the moment for LHW. He arguably lost 2 of his last three, and since when does beating Lyoto coming off a loss in controversial fasion and beating Matt Hamill without finishing him grant a title shot?

The reason Jones got the shot is because Rashad was hurt. Rashad is healthy now, but the UFC wouldn't ink the fight because Jones decides he needs hand surgery. Rashad says he's not making the same mistake again and agrees to fight Phil Davis, a rising star with 5 straight wins and very much in the title picture. As soon as that fight is in ink, Jones says he doesn't need surgery after all and would have been able to fight at 133.
And now they're looking at it like Davis can steal his shot? Rampage can steal it? Lyoto?
We've been over why Phil Davis and Page don't deserve it (Page isn't on a nice enough streak and the Davis fight should be scratched...)
Lyoto? Oh, yeah. Officially lost 2 of his last three. One to Shogun who was destroyed, one to Rampage, who doesn't belong in title talks, and then beating Couture in his retirement fight? No, sorry Lyoto, you don't deserve it either.
The only person that actually deserves to be in title talks IS Rashad. There is only one other fighter you can make a case for and he's heavily underrated. Forrest Griffin.
If he defeats Shogun, he's on a 3 fight win streak against all ex-champs including being the only person to go 2-0 on him. His only losses in his last five are Anderson who is #1 p4p and destroys Griffin stylistically and to Rashad, who he was actually doing very well against in an even bout.
and guess who rounds out his last 5? (Win over Franklin, Win over Tito, Loss to Anderson, Loss to Rashad)
Rampage. That's right. Rampage. Have people forgotten that Forrest BEAT Rampage for the belt? Sure, he handed it right to Rashad, who handed it to Lyoto, who handed to Shogun, who handed it to Bones.
The LHW belt is Hot Potato right now, and the title picture is immense, but when you crack down on it... The title picture is Rashad. if Rashad gets hurt, Forrest if he beats Shogun again. That's it. until they get some more fights in there besides the love square.
