Hello OMMA! I'm russianboy7 here with the review of Ultimate Combat 1: Genesis. The arena was pretty big for the first UC event. The fans only got to see two matches, but weren't disappointed they came. The matches were great and a very good start to UC! Now let's get to the matches.

Light Heavyweight Matchup:
Jon Jones vs Kip Johnson
Winner: Jon Jones via 1st Round Knockout FOTN
The match started out with both opponents throwing strikes, but Jon Jones' timing was really good and Kip Johnson was too hurrying with making his moves. Most of Kip's attacks were parried and countered by Jon's perfect timing hits. A few clinches and takedowns were made as well. Then in the middle of the match Jon countered Kip with a strong head kick that rocked Kip. Another head kick took Jon's opponent down, but then Kip fought out of Jon's TKO attempt and the fight continued. Once again Jon kept on damaging his opponent with his perfect timed hits. When Kip felt like he was about to get knocked out went for a takedown attempt. Jon sprawled and was fighting his way to full mount while at the same time damaging Kip's head. At last Jon got to the full mount and a strong punch ended the fight. Kip Johnson was laying on the ground knocked out.

Heavyweight Matchup:
Zhane Hamilton vs Cody Wicks
Winner: Cody Wicks via 1st Round Knockout KOTN
This fight was quick, but who said the fight has to be long to be great and this one was surely great! It started out with some stand-up strikes from both opponents. Then Cody went for a takedown and succeed. He soon succeeded in getting himself to the full mount. A few punches from the mount and Zhane Hamilton was knocked out.

I believe both of the fights were pretty good and fair. In the first fight Jon Jones' experience and perfect timing brought his record now up to 5-0 and Kip Johnson's down to 2-3. In the second fight Cody Wicks' great ground game brought his record up to 1-0 and Zhane Hamilton's down to 3-4. So, great job guys to all of you who competed and had the guts to step in that cage and fight. Win or lose you all deserve respect from OMMA. I'll be hoping to see some more fighters fight in the future UC events and till then, see ya!
