SMOKECOMBS
Hello guys, just stopped in to introduce myself. I got word of this awesome forum and fighting league from Killa Bee off of the EA Sports forums. I am new to MMA video games, at least the online fighting aspect of them and would love to learn and become a better player.

I have watched and played around with boxing and MMA for most of my life, boxing most of my life, MMA most of my adult life. I tried a little free lance writing and did that off and on for awhile but my editing sucks majorly. I mainly just post at doghouseboxing forums, or on fighter's and trainers Facebook pages to get my boxing/MMA fix. I love to do "Round by Round" writeups whenever I get the chance for DHB but don't have the time or really the desire to post articles anymore.

As for my playing ability...lol, it's practically non existant. I am new to the EA MMA game, received the game on Christmas day and finally got to play it right around New Years. I've been trying to go through a career and learn the game. Been playing on medium level and maybe should try the hard level. I'm by no means dominant even on medium but it seems after I won the Strikeforce title the computer's A.I., at least at lightweight seems to only grab me and try to clintch while I just batter their body with punches and parry their knee attempts. This gets pretty boring. So I did try my hand at the online a few nights ago. I have compiled a whopping record of 1-1 in ranked, LOL! I did win a 2nd fight but for some reason it hasn't shown up on the EA servers. I have played in maybe 4 fight cards, for a total of around 9 fights. Good players usually take me out in around a minute, or max, 2 minutes. I played the 50th ranked player on the Xbox 360 the other night and managed to last almost 3 minutes! Very Happy So yeah, I'm a low level player, but looking to improve (especially my standup) and hope to eventually have some good battles online. Thanks guys and thanks to the administrators for creating this place.

Welcome a board man.. If you got a record like that then you will probably do quite well.

my first attempts landed me 0-10 but I didn't know what I was doing and used a crap caf.
30+ fights later, it appears i still don't know what I am doing and using better cafs.

Everyone I fight always is one up on me.

That's awesome that you are so envolved in boxing and mma.
hope you like it here.

Thanks man, I dabble in the sports, and the past couple of years it's just me sparring around with my kids and the heavy bag and speed bag. I rarely write anything these days, other than just posts in forums.

My record, I think I got lucky and played a newer player like myself for my first win. He lost to a tapout from a kimura and didn't seem to even try to fight out of it. My other win was against a medium level player, although I didn't get credit for it. He was beating me easily on our feet but I got him in a choke and got lucky and won that one. Then I started playing better players...I was in for a reality check then, lol. Those guys could finish me within seconds. I figured out I can't bang with the good standup fighters. I can't punch fast enough or parry well enough to survive. So I've either got to get takedowns and hope for the best, at least at this point. I've really got to work on my standup. I totally hear what you are saying, at the moment I just don't feel I'll be capable of matching up with the better players but I will give it my best try to improve and at least give them a challenge, I hope. Very Happy
