1 EA MMA 2 Rumors popping up on 7/4/2011, 5:39 pm

Nothing concrete but maybe middle easy knows something we don't

MiddleEasy wrote:As rumored earlier this week, plans for EA Sports MMA 2 is well underway.

I tried to find the earlier article that mentions this rumor but couldn't.

*puts on conspiracy theory hat*

Perhaps EA and THQ are doing their 2 year release schedule in sync with each other. So 1 year we get a strikeforce game and the next we get a UFC game. Zuffa said it would honor all previous contracts and we know Strikeforce will be a separate entity till 2014 when the showtime contract is up, that's enough time for one more game (possibly more if strikeforce remains separate).

Found the article Middle Easy was referencing

A world where we’re not involved in fighting is a world I’d rather not think about. That said, what goes on in the sport, and what’s gone on between the UFC and StrikeForce, certainly has an impact on what we can do in the space… So it’s not a no, but it’s also not a yes. We’d love for there to be one because I’m a diehard fan of the sport. We have to figure out how to make that happen.

Here's a kotaku article about it too

I remember reading a complaint on the EA site about the game and one of the devs said he added it to his notes. You dont take notes on a game if you arent making another so...

Yea, I talked to some Devs after Strikeforce was bought by Zuffa, and they said this really does not effect them.

On a Side note: MFC (Maximum Fighting Championship) resently signed a 5 year contract with HDNet, HDFights, and Fight Network. So IF EA was looking for a real roster, the MFC might be a good selection. Former UFC fighters and many new up and comers, plus it is expanding right now and getting bigger.
Just a thought though
